The art of dressing makes us feel better, smarter and empowered. What you wear really does affect your self esteem and the power of dressing is how you carry yourself. Believe it or not, your clothing affects you in more ways than one. Like the amount of energy you put out into the universe. The universe has your back and if you show up confidently dressed you can rock any attitude you need to get stuff done.
CLOTHES ARE A UNIFORM
Everyday we put our best foot forward and rather than have indecision as another choice which what outfit to wear why not use your weekly wardrobe as a simple choice. Pick simple outfits that match your style and work like white and black, coat and dress, leggings and long top.
THE UNIVERSE SERVES YOU WHEN YOU SERVE YOURSELF FIRST
So, really that is why, how we dress makes us feel more confident. Clothes really do change the way we feel to the way we want and who we want to be. Often our clothing is used as a tool to hide what we don’t like about our bodies and it reflects how we feel about ourselves.
BE HONEST WHO IS THE REAL YOU
So why do our clothes reflect who we really are? Why are you holding onto that jacket you never wear or someone gave you that you really do not even like or care or for that matter is no longer in your life – so really it does not serve any point of hanging in your closet or wardrobe. It is just taking up space that space that could be better used to serve the real you.
Its a vicious cycle that we keep clothing when we do not even need it. Are you a frock hoarder and have way to many frocks and is those frocks doing you any good. Be honest with yourself and remove all the clutter and build up that is forming a negative barrier around you. Strategise and declutter, its called a detox wardrobe and its time to relieve yourself of the negative energy around clothing that no longer serves you.
DRESS UPS MAKES US CONFIDENT
Think back to when you were young, did you ever play dress ups? Perhaps it was your mother’s high heels or was a superhero costume. Whatever the dress up it makes you change who you are and you transform into a person, career or role model.
I watch my two daughters play dress ups and they love wearing my shoes, clothes, they learn so much from putting on my clothes as they transform into being a teacher, a library teacher, post office worker, doctor, and a mother. I admire that they can enjoy the fact whatever they wear they become someone so wonderful that gives them the confidence to declare this is who I am.
As grownups we often fall short of doing this. Perhaps our grown up genes make us think we can’t change our appearance to some degree because of the society standards of what we should wear and what we should not wear in certain careers. I am here to say, wear what makes you feel confident but also know you have a job to do at the end of the day. So if you wear that casual dress rather than a smart suit know you may be taken less serious in the business world but as a mum you are seen probably as a caring mother. We label ourselves by what we do not what we wear.
DO I REALLY NEED THIS
Ask yourself why did I wear that outfit to my Christmas party or work dinner? Clothing affects our feelings and if we wear certain outfits it can change the whole outlook on life. Time to repeat outfits that look good, really does it really matter if you wear the same outfit twice. What i remember is the job i do rather what i wore.
Think about the little black dress for example. When you wear black it makes you feel powerful and in the world black is a mourning colour associated with grief. Yet black leaves and makes a lasting impression. Black is taken seriously in the business world and when you go to a formal event we know you mean business. Black is uniform like and easy to repeat with everything.
So go through your wardrobe and detox your wardrobe that no longer serves you and be reminded only by whats in your closet gives you confidence and dress up your dreams and goals. So, go get em girls!
