For many years i lived in the empty quarter of the world and was a mother, and a teacher. I lived also in the middle east. It was when i was teaching english, to a student who was very sick, and actually died due to the illness/disease had taken over and got sick once from a cold. Thats all it took. From that day i see life from a happy place. I know i sounds like the last thing we want happiness when someone dies but, this was a lesson from one stranger to the next. Don’t sit still and wait. Don’t just let it come to you. Let things happen in their own divine timing, be a peace and talk to strangers, open your heart and warm your soul…. that was when I learnt a lesson. Something incredible happened i started writing and my world changed forever.
When i met this rare student I knew that the student would depart in peace and i would of been lucky to have known the student. We expect people to give us what we want yet this young student did not expect anything. I realised then life is about learning from strangers and somehow they are teachers and i found a lesson in this stranger that passed by my world.
Expect nothing in return
By not asking for something back and receiving something from others can make us feel like we are achieving. My lesson was when this student had asked have you ever considered writing and that changed everything.
Express your feelings
This young student had told me of his dream for me. His words were if you like to write – you must. He was an advanced reader who barely could move from his wheelchair and was looked after by his carer. We expect so much from life and in return what do we do. I found out to expect nothing and you get something back more in return.
Let go of unhappy
Many people i speak with have an unhappy story. Despite changing our ways or situations we stay and just sweat it out. Often thoughts that it will get better or it will change. What i have learnt in my time as a teacher and as a mother that no matter what we do we must do it for ourselves.
Detach from Worrying
You may not realise but worrying creates an unpleasant feeling deep within our gut. Its like a stomach ache that builds up and gets worse over time. Worrying is a sign of unhappiness and a unhappy way of living. Our energy we put into that worry makes us feel even worse. Because we are feeding that worrying addiction.
Change Your mindset
Life is an option to live the time you have to enjoy the smiles and memories. If we had to think of what others go through we can really change our mindset. Simple changes how we see the world can change our whole perspective on life. Suddenly we can go from unhappy to happy by seeing life serves us well. If we take some time to look beyond the everyday life going on and think of the uncommon things we don’t realise that change our lives. Like a conversation with strangers in a park, train station, street or cafe.
When you met a stranger say hi, and never doubt that person has a story too and share your story. Let life stand still and let the happiness come from people around you.
