It’s something most of us only ever dream about dinning out without regret. If you’ve been thinking how can i eat pretty nice without the extra baggage that makes you feel unhappy about what you ate when you dinning out. I’ve tried many different ways when i eat out and i’ve narrowed it down to these 6 ways to eat out when eating out or dinning out.
Just remember you pay for what you eat but you do not need to eat everything on your plate. So, no more sticky situations when you want the healthiest guide to eating out and dinning out
1. Bread for the table? Thank You but, No Thanks you.
This is the most important decision you’ll make all night so stop and think do i need extra virgin oil with dipping breads. If you say yes, you’re facing about 200 calories per slice really i’d not recommend rather be mindful at the table and take the chance to talk to whoever you are dinning with or alone appreciate the foo d you are going to eat. Sure the bread will taste damn good, like yummy. But, starting with the bread (for at least for me) might make you feel like you’ve already blown your will power, so why not eat the whole pasta dish, the second drink, and the dessert? You only live once! Again, Stop. Think Mindfulness is your best friend. If you’re obsessed with the bread at this place (I’m talking, warm, glutenous, fresh-from-the-oven bread) then go for it, but make this your one splurge, commit to a lighter main course and pass on dessert.
2. Plan to splurge… I so deserve it!
The real reason you go out is so you eat something you don’t cook at home generally and experience the taste of something you’ve been dreaming about. You’re out at a restaurant, enjoy yourself. Pick something that makes you feel like you’re treating yourself like a glass (or 2!) of champagne, the freshly baked bread you can’t resist with dipping sauce, a homemade pasta entrée, or the sinful ever so sticky pudding or lushicious chocolate dessert. I like to google the menu and check out what they have ahead of time so you’re not fumbling over choices when the waiter approaches.
3. Champagne, wine, cocktail? Yes, please.
For the beloved people who love a glass of vino steer clear of anything too cheap on the menu or sugary cocktails like piña coladas, daiquiris, even mojitos and margaritas can set you back 200-400 calories, rather be good they will spike your blood sugar, and make you hungrier so you’re likely to eat more. Try instead, stick with a light beer, a glass of wine, champagne, or a simple cocktail like a vodka-soda or tequila-soda with a splash of fruit juice, all of which clock in under 150 calories.
4. Still, sparkling, or tap? Order the fancy water.
This seems completely simple. Why would you pay for water?! Really i know, but you are dinning out so its meant to make you feel better not worse and the psychological reason is to pay for the fancy bottle of Sparkling Pellegrino water. It’ll hydrate you and help you enjoy your dinning.
5. Start with an entree? I’ll pass please, unless it’s a salad.
Appetisers are traditionally fried, or carb based… in other words, so delicious you won’t be able to control your hunger, and before you know it you’ve just downed an entire meal’s worth before the entrees even hit the table. I say pass please unless there is a cleaning salad. But if you simply must order one, avoid the obvious fried seafood ones. Try a fresh prawn cocktail, the protein will help. Often you can share or spilt two entrees just be sure to get some tasty bites to quench your curiosity, and then focus on the conversation.
6. Choose vegetable then pair it with protein.
Out of all the dinning i choose the vegetable options that i love as vegetables are what your body needs. Avoid any carb intakes as you can get that at any fast food outlet. Some of my favourite things to order are the grilled fresh fish, prawns with chilli and any dish with seasonal vegetables. I never order a burger as that is cheating on the chef. Take the time to hear the specials and if all else fails go with your heart and use the 10 technique. How will i feel if i eat this dish in 10 seconds, 10 minutes and 10 hours it always works for me.
